The Done club

Where food writers finally choose their one book goal, finish it, and feel like themselves again.

You know how to tell a story.
You know how to turn a memory into a scene, a moment into a recipe, a flavor into a feeling.

But when it comes to your book?
You’re stuck in a tangle of ideas — good ones, too many of them — and the noise of it all has you stalled out.

You’re juggling a full-time career, a creative brand, a life, a family, an inbox, a pantry filled with ingredients for a chapter you meant to write months ago…

And every time you sit down to focus, your brain hands you another sticky note idea like,
“Hey, what if the whole book is actually about this instead?”

You are not lazy.
You are not flaky.
You are not behind.

You’re just carrying too much possibility, and it’s blocking your momentum.

What you need isn’t discipline or another writing craft book.
You need a container.
A supportive, judgment-free, energy-boosting space where you can:

✨ choose one clear project
✨ actually work on it
✨ actually finish it
✨ and actually feel proud again

Welcome to The Done Club — a six-week creative support space for food writers, cookbook authors, food memoirists, and the “almost-there” women of the culinary world who are ready to stop swirling and start finishing.

No shame.
No pressure.
No performative productivity.
Just a cozy, encouraging, slightly-sassy place to get one thing done — with structure, support, and a whole lot of exhale.

SPACE IS LIMITED

Why THE DONE CLUB?

Because your kind of creative stuckness is special.
You’re not just typing words — you’re holding stories, memories, flavors, identities, legacies.

You’re writing with lingering thoughts of M.F.K. Fisher, Edna Lewis, Julia Child, Samin Nosrat —
and that alone is enough to make anyone freeze at the starting line.

You’re also someone who:

  • Is thisfreakingclose to finishing something
  • Has a half-formed proposal, a nearly-there chapter, or a pile of unedited recipes
  • Knows you’re capable — wildly so — but you’re mentally overloaded
  • Is tired of working on your book “in your head”
  • Wants accountability without the pressure cooker
  • Wants connection without comparison
  • Wants clarity without twelve more decisions
  • Wants to remember what inspiration feels like, instead of exhaustion
  • You’re a straight shooter, a good hang, the one everyone asks,
“So what are you working on now?"

And you want to finally have an answer that feels good.

love notes from past students + clients

"I am so inspired and now have a plan I think I can stick to. You really turned the light bulb on for me by presenting the info in such a plain and simple way."

—Kelly Brown

"I've learned SO much about the publishing process, and I'm still only at the beginning of it. But, having now worked with you, I'm now acutely aware of all the things I didn't know two years ago and it has definitely made me a better writer. It's a slow process (particularly in my case, thanks to life getting in the way a bit) but I'm really enjoying the creative journey."

—Alex Lalak

“…at the beginning of this latest assignment, I felt a bit overwhelmed and worried that I wouldn't have enough to say (or anything "new", or "profound" to say) about my baking process(es). But as I've been writing this week, I'm SO enjoying digging deep into how I discover and turn my inspiration into something delicious. I have so much more to say than I'd ever thought I would, and it definitely feels good and meaningful. So thank you, for helping me pinpoint where I needed to expand, and for giving me the space to explore and be open about it!”

—liz Ho

“I love the way you create community, and you know the best people!”

—Laura Scherb

HEY,
I’m

AMANDA!

I'm a cookbook and food memoir coach who traded my acting and improv life for food writing—and promptly became Time Inc.’s first dedicated Facebook Live segment producer. I oversaw 300+ live shows, wrangled James Beard and Michelin-starred chefs for the company’s Food Media Junket, and learned (very quickly) how to tell a great story under pressure.

With 20 years of storytelling chops and hundreds of writers under her wing, I now help food folks craft the book only they can write. My clients have landed Big 5 deals, scored press in outlets like Food52, Stained Page News, and Edible Communities, and found the clarity to trust their own voice.

My work has appeared in Cooking Light, Time, Southern Living, and Food & Wine, and I've spoken at industry events including the inaugural Les Dames d'Escoffier International M.F.K. Fisher Symposium.

Tell me more about this “one thing”

It's what's keeping you from creative momentum. Your "One Thing" might be:

  • That proposal's promo plan gathering dust because you haven't pitched a single outlet yet—yes, actually pitching counts.
  • The fear spiral that's got you writing absolutely nothing—spoiler: you need a word count goal, not more thinking time.
  • Your brilliant plan to "stay small" because building an author platform sounds hard—newsflash: you need a website and a newsletter people can actually find.
  • A calendar hijacked by everyone else's priorities—plot twist: your writing sessions deserve a spot too (hello, Done Club co-working).
  • A memoir or novel that's "vibes only" because you're avoiding the outline—turns out your book needs a container, not just feelings.
  • A half-baked proposal where you wrote "comps TK" six months ago—time for library hauls and actual market research, friend.

The thing is? Most people don't even know which "one thing" is blocking them. That's exactly what we're here to figure out—and finish—in six weeks.

faq

How do I choose my one thing?

Your Notion workbook + you + me.
You’ll start with guided journaling prompts that help you sort your ideas, name your priorities, and get honest about what you actually want to work on.

Then in our first co-working session, I’ll be there to help refine your choice so you feel confident moving forward with your book project.

Don’t overthink it. I promise — I’ve got you.

Is this right for me if I’m just starting out?

Maybe! If you’re a self-starter who feels excited to jump into a creative project with light structure and accountability, this will work beautifully.

If you need more hands-on support, deeper editorial help, or someone to walk you step-by-step through shaping your book idea, I’d recommend my full 1:1 coaching instead.

I don’t know if I can join this round. When will it be offered again?

Great question — and the honest answer is… I’m not sure yet.
This is the very first round of The Done Club, and I’m focusing all my energy on this cohort.

If you’re feeling the pull, this is probably the round to join.

When will I get access to everything?

You’ll receive your onboarding email at the beginning of February, which will include your Notion workbook, call links, Slack info, and next steps.

How does the 1:1 coaching call work?

As soon as you receive your onboarding email, you can book your call.
You’ll have until April 30, 2026 to use it.

You can submit up to 10 pages (double-spaced, 12pt Times New Roman) ahead of time.

You’ll receive an edit letter 48 hours before your call with clear next steps, and during the session we’ll troubleshoot, brainstorm, and map out your strongest direction.

These calls are a client favorite for a reason.

How many spaces are available?

Just 10 spots.

It’s intentionally cozy so you get a real sense of community and support without feeling lost in a crowd.

What if I’m not sure I can finish something in six weeks?

Finishing is wonderful — but it’s not the only win. Clarity, direction, momentum, and a lighter mental load are just as meaningful.

If you finish? Amazing. If you get further than you have in years? Also amazing.

What if I can’t make every session?

It’s okay! Life happens.
Come when you can — every session is designed to help you pick up right where you left off.

All Q&A sessions are recorded, so you can catch up anytime.

And the private Slack community is there for you in the in-between.

What if my idea changes once I start?

Totally normal.

You aren’t locked into anything.

The Done Club is meant to help you listen to what your project wants to become — and pivoting is part of the process.

Perfect for the writer who wants deeper clarity, direction, and personalized support.

1:1 coaching upgrade

Includes:
✨ A 60-minute coaching call
✨ Review of up to 10 pages
✨ Clear editorial notes + next-step guidance

A gentle but powerful reset for your project.
